Global Transformations and Governance Challenges
8-10 June 2022 in The Hague
We are pleased to invite you to the first Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) conference that will take place from 8-10 June 2022 at Schouwburgstraat 2 in The Hague. Panel discussions will be held to present the wealth of innovative, interdisciplinary, and cross-faculty research being done at Leiden and partner universities concerning governance responses to key global developments of our day. In addition, the conference includes plenary roundtables with world-leading authorities on combatting crimes against humanity, preventing biodiversity loss, and maintaining the global internet in a fragmenting world. There is also an opening reception and exhibit in The Hague City Hall<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fatriumc...>, and a second reception with book launch. The Executive Board of Leiden University is pleased to announce the inauguration of
the new Owada Chair for International Law and Geopolitics
with a lecture by Professor Dominique Moïsi, Visiting Research Professor at King's College London
and Special Advisor to the Institut Montaigne
You are cordially invited to attend the inauguration of this chair on Tuesday, 24 May 2022, 10:00 hrs in the Academy Building Leiden, Great Auditorium, Rapenburg 73, 2311 GJ Leiden.
The ceremony will start with the customary procession of professors, followed by a word of welcome by Rector Magnificus Hester Bijl, a short address by Professor Teruo Fuji, President of Tokyo University (by video message) and an introduction to the chair by Professor Hisashi Owada, after which Professor Dominique Moïsi will deliver the principal inaugural lecture.
After lunch, Professor Owada will engage with the audience in a more in-depth conversation on the topical significance of this chair. He will be joined by Dean Takumi Moriyama of Tokyo University.
